The Defense Division of Bulova Technologies, LLC (‘Bulova’ or the ‘Company) is the leading provider of fusing products, safe and arm devices, engineering services and other ordnance-related items to the Department of Defense and to approved international customers in over 30 countries worldwide.
Situation
SSG was retained to review strategic alternatives for both the Defense and Commercial Divisions of the Company. Alternatives included a refinancing of the Company or a sale of one or both of the Divisions
Solution
As a direct result of the election of the Bush Administration, and the subsequent expansion of the proposed defense budget, the strategic importance of the defense sector readily increased. In order to leverage the current market conditions, SSG facilitated an opportunistic strategic sale of the Company’s Defense Division to L3 Communications, allowing L3 Communications to expand its own fusing products business.
